About: The Sanctuary is a unique, hidden little gem nestled in the stunning Blackdown Hills AONB. An area made up of exquisite coastline that's perfect for walkers who want to explore the South West Coastal Path. The pretty neighbouring town of Honiton offers charming pubs and quaint tearooms and is a great cycle route.

The coast of Sidmouth and Lyme Regis are both within a short distance and if a spot of shopping is desired, the historical cathedral city of Exeter is also within half an hour for a cultural fix. Both Exmoor and Dorset are within driving distance too.

But if it's an escape you want - this is the place, with a wonderful water frontage. You can fall asleep under a thousand stars, lulled by the sound of the river and the distant hoot of barn owls. Then awake to the sound of birdsong.  The paddock is surrounded by tranquil farmland.

The very popular family run pub, The Sidmouth Arms, is a short stroll (5 mins) from the campsite. A well stocked voluntarily run village shop with a post office is three miles away. The market town of Honiton, famous for its antique shops and Honiton Lace is a 10 minute drive by car.

This rural landscape offers a wide variety of wildlife from barn owls, kingfishers, buzzards, and even otters and beavers have been spotted.

The site includes: - A small pop up shop supplying organic and home grown produce, along with wood for wood burners, marshmallows and even a little vintage shop.

  • A kitchen with washing up facilities and if required, basic cooking facilities.

  • A bathroom with two compost loos and a gas heated hot water shower. The site does not have electricity but is fed by solar and we have mains running water.

Each pitch has its own campfire and is mown into the meadow for enclosure and privacy.

Worth Noting: Due to limited space, we can only provide parking for one car per pitch (spaces are available nearby in the village). Sorry we do not permit dogs as we are surrounded by wildlife and livestock.

Number of Pitches: 5, including three glamping bell tents, a shepherd's hut and a converted horsebox.

Open: May to September
